Listening to an LP I had just acquired from a charity shop, & perusing the cover, it occurred to me that in the 70s the music industry had a marketing advantage we no longer have. The artists were proud to outline what equipment they used, who produced the album, and any other salient information they deemed important.  Nowadays we only get the writers on the credit.   It all adds up to the decline in the importance of the musicians. Were Artist Endorsments more important in those days?

Big TikTok stars are hurting the most. “Creators with 100,000 followers have seen a 30,000 average drop in views,” according to AdWeek. They conclude that “the era of instant virality is receding.”
This is painful news for record labels—who have been looking for TikTok as the launching pad of the next generation of music stars. Based on the current trend, their hopes have been misguided.
